BF6 Gamers Agree: Challenges Are Excessively Difficult
The launch of the eagerly awaited Battlefield 6 garnered broad praise, particularly for its flagship multiplayer mode. On Steam alone, concurrent player counts peaked at nearly 750,000. Nevertheless, in spite of its success, an increasing amount of players are expressing frustration over some of the game's toughest challenges, which are necessary to access certain guns.
Players have started resorting to personalized games made via Battlefield Portal to complete them, highlighting just how grueling these challenges have become.
Understanding Battlefield 6 Assignments
Assignments are Battlefield 6's fixed in-game challenges, in contrast to the regularly refreshed day-to-day and weekly tasks. It features four classes of assignments, but although many only reward cosmetics and some tools, achieving the firearm tasks is the exclusive means of acquiring a dozen out of forty-one key firearms available in the game.
Several of these gated guns could shortly find their way on lists of the finest arms in Battlefield 6.
Gamer Backlash on Reddit
On Reddit, players are justifiably voicing their concerns about how difficult and grindy several of these challenges are. A particular gamer highlighted one of the most egregious examples, mandatory for acquiring the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Suppress 300 enemies with LMGs
- Cause 10,000 non-ADS damage with LMGs
"This task is so awful and completely out of mind, I want to gouge my eyes out," is a quote that summarizes just how annoyingly hard these tasks are.
The suppression feature in the game is less effective than in previous titles in the series, so it lacks nearly as many advantages in battle as it had in previous games. It only counts as suppression if you fail to hit several consecutive shots.
Additionally, firing an LMG without aiming is wildly inaccurate and is effective only at extremely close range, which is seldom the location you aim to be. The same user also pointed out the paradox in the SMG challenge, required for the SCW-10, which demands eliminations when scoped in, when that mission would be considerably more fitting to hipfire kills, and conversely.
Another Extremely Difficult Task
Another Reddit user pointed out an additional excessively hard challenge, now in the sniper rifle category to access the PSR:
- Achieve 150 headshot eliminations beyond 200 meters with marksman guns
This is challenging enough on its own, but there's an additional crucial factor to consider: most Battlefield 6 maps fail to facilitate combat at those extended distances.
There exists a reasonable assortment of map sizes, but because there are just nine maps in the game at present, it means you're limited to playing New Sobek City, a particular valley environment, and possibly an additional option in a best-case scenario if you plan to engage from afar from over 200m away.
The Bypass
There is a workaround though: Battlefield Portal. This portal feature is a system that permits you to make custom game modes on any map you prefer, featuring computer-controlled players. This allows you can cheese the system… but it doesn't exactly feel like the spirit of the game.
However, when tackling the tasks in a standard match appears to work against fun, since you are forced to participate in such an atypical style that harms both you and your squad, who can fault a player for completing them in a private match so allies are not impaired?
Potential Changes
It won't come as a surprise if several of these tasks are adjusted to be less difficult in the near future, because unless they are modified, a portion of the user base simply will never acquire the gated weapons.
For now, the audience continues to express their views on these demanding battlefield assignments, hoping for a less arduous overall gameplay in future updates.
